Rick Ross Allegedly Extorted for $3 Million By Gangster Disciples for using Alleged Leader’s Name in Rap Song.

Allegedly, Rick Ross ran into some issues with the Gangster Disciples, who didn’t like the rapper’s mentioning their leader’s name without compensation. Members of the gang were also alleged to have extorted Ross, news that was revealed in a 2016 indictment.

William Leonard Roberts II, now known as rapper and entrepreneur Rick Ross made the 2010 track “BMF” (Blowin’ Money Fast), in recording the song, Ross called himself “Larry Hoover,” He also called himself Big Meech named after the notorious leader of the Black Mafia Family on the same track).

The song and entire album became a huge hit for Ross, but also sparked public controversy and animus, particularly with former and current gang members of the Gangster Disciples, BMF, and even the real ‘Freeway Rick Ross’ aka Ricky Donell.

The problems began when Ross, on the 2010 track, Ross calls himself Larry Hoover but he was also set upon because they said he “threw” the six pointed stars GD hand signal.  Additionally, Ross posed with the six pointed Star of David on the album cover.  Larry Hoover is purportedly the founder and kingpin of Chicago’s notorious Black Gangster Disciples and is currently serving six life sentences for murder, extortion, conspiracy and running a criminal enterprise.

The Gangsta Disciples allegedly demanded that Ross pay them for the usage of their names under the threat of violence, and Ross was further warned that he will also be shut out of live performances in several states such as Alabama, Tennessee, North Carolina and most conspicuously, Illinois until he pay.

Initially, some shows were cancelled in the wake of the drama and later, several members of the gang were indicted for extortion among a flurry of other charges.

A 2012 Indictment of several alleged members of the BGD that has become public and also includes audio of the trial and is now on YouTube references that: “Shauntay Craig, Alonzo Walton, Kevin Clayton and Donald Glass, and other Gangster Disciples members threatened rapper R.R. with physical harm unless rapper R.R. paid the Gangster Disciples for use of the gang’s name and symbols”
