This group got their name indirectly from Suzanne de Passe who was blown away at the bands showcase (that got them signed to Motown) by the groups ability to keep switching up instruments, which along with their vocals was truly amazing. The 7 man ensemble should have stood the test of time instead of the five year window they had. Soul music had nowhere else to go but down after them, followed by all that synthesizer banging jerry curled pseudo-“music” that pervaded the 80’s.

Nzinga Zindua in a statement summed up the group Switch (and Soul Music in general)… “these were in the 70’s, when most songs sang to black women was that of admiration, honor, protection and respect. How far we’ve come.
