It’s been said that, “Dana Williams has the rare ability to bend time and turn feeling bad into something impossibly lovely.” Fact is, a lot is being said about this aspiring singer-songwriter who has just released new music.

Dana’s ascension in music is a continuation of the forward-motion began by her father, the late David Williams, a rhythm guitarist who performed on such iconic songs as Madonna’s “Like A Prayer,” Stevie Nicks’s “Stand Back,” and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”

Now writing her own chapter of the continuing legacy, Dana’s ascension began in earnest with her debut album release “The Lonely One” back in 2013, which featured a breakout single “Keep Me Waiting,” a recording which earned the distinction of being the only original vocal composition featured in Damien Chazelle’s Oscar-winning film Whiplash and was later followed by singles “Fooling Myself” and “Honey,” which have garnered over 9MM streams to date.

Williams was raised on jazz and blues singers like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, the L.A.-based artist draws on that rich background and it is reflected sometimes in her songwriting, and always in her singing, where her voice offers a lush, jazzy nonchalance in her delivery.

In her new single “Let Me,” Williams presents with a contemplative, yet flirtatious track about the fear and excitement at the beginning of a relationship, asking are you gonna let me down? delivered with just a bit of jazzy nonchalance and plenty of emotion, Here, Williams vocals and lyrical subtleties are bared and on display for all to enjoy. Williams co-wrote the song with Jack Laboz, who also produced the track.

If you’re into jazzy bluesy vocals, you’re gonna like Dana Williams, if you’re into discovery of talented rising artists, you’re really gonna love Dana Williams. You can watch the video for “Let Me” below and tell us what you think.
