The Manhattans is one of the few remaining classic 60’s R&B vocal groups who managed to adapt their style to changing times and in the process, achieved continuing relevance and incredible career longevity. The group have solidified their standing among of the great soul vocal groups of the past half century.

The group originally formed in Jersey City, N.J., in the ’60s as a doo wop-influenced R&B quintet, then in the ’70’s, the Manhattans reinvented themselves as sweet smooth soul balladeers, that incarnation of the groups sound became their legacy and it continues to this day, albeit, the group is now a trio.

The Manhattan’s members are Gerald Alston, Troy May and David Tyson, brother of The Temptations’ Tenor Ron Tyson. In the past, the group also featured Eban Brown, who later left and spent eighteen years as lead vocalist for The Stylistics.

Earlier this year, the Manhattans dropped The Legacy Continues, their first all new album in nearly two decades. Now the trio has today, issued a new single from the Legacy project entitled “What About You” a single that captures remnants of the smooth, classic Manhattans vibe.
