Jessie D, one of the founding members of Force MDs<\/a>, died yesterday (February 4), the group has confirmed on its official Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The star, whose real name was Jessie Lee Daniels, was 58 years of age. No cause of death has been confirmed at present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daniels co-founded Force MDs in Staten Island, New York in 1981, alongside his nephews Stevie D, Antoine \u201cT.C.D.\u201d Lundy and Rodney \u201cKhalil\u201d Lundy, with \u201cTrisco\u201d Pearson and Charles \u201cMercury\u201d Nelson joining later. The group fused R&B, doo-wop, hip-hop and beatboxing in their sound and were considered to be pioneers of the new jack swing movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two of the group\u2019s biggest hits were 1985\u2019s \u2018Tender Love\u2019, which appeared on their second album \u2018Chillin\u2019 and the soundtrack of the film Krush Groove<\/em>. It reached Number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained on the chart for 19 weeks. In 1987, \u2019Love Is A House\u2019 from their third album \u2018Touch & Go\u2019 became their first Number One song on the Billboard R&B charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1996, Force MDs also collaborated with Ghostface Killah, appearing on the rapper\u2019s debut album \u2018Ironman\u2019. Their vocals appeared on the tracks \u2018Daytona 500\u2019, \u2018Box In Hand\u2019 and \u2018The Soul Controller\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tributes have been paid to Daniels following the news of his death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
